Weldon Steiner Reservoir
The only posted fish regulations are for Catfish. Only 2 over 12” can be kept. It is an old quarry lake of about 50 acres in size and deep in parts
- shallow in others.
This area is a must see. Hidden from all the unsuspecting Mark Twain fishermen this lake is a gem. Flooded grass, chunk rock, rock bluffs, timber and lay downs are throughout. All species are great. Bass and crappie seem to be the most productive. I catch nice crappie on crankbaits every time I go. The lake is set up for worm fishing and jig fishing but the many points offer good spots for crankbaits. In the fall this area is spectacular. Deer are everywhere and can be seen watching you fish all day long. Don’t be surprised if you stir a sleeping deer near the boat ramp in the early morning. Water clarity is very good and the entire park is well maintained. Jason Lewis, writer profile
