YOU HAVE WEAKEN A COUNTRY TODAY
By Allen “horntagger” Morris
Message to the Anti – Hunting world,

We live in a world that has woods, that you have made smaller because your homes, now sit on where the woods use to. And those woods have to be hunted by men with bows. Who's gonna do it? You? You, other anti’s out there? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom since you have removed all the natural predators. You weep for deer and you curse the hunters. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: That deer's death, while tragic, probably saved your life on the drive home. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives and suffering of both humans and wildlife.

You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me in those woods! You need me in those woods! We use words like respect, and heritage...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent hunting and preserving wildlife and habitat. You use 'em as a punch line.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to individuals who rises and sleeps under the modern blanket of the very freedom that my ancestor pioneered this country for, and provided for you, then questions the manner in which I keep that heritage and freedom alive. I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up your bow and stand alone in the woods and never go to the grocery store again. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're trying to point out, or what I should wear or how I should act.

The Anti-Hunting world, are the weak link in this country. You have no idea how to keep a heritage alive and have no respect for the animals you have displaced with your modern lifestyle. When my hard earned money for hunting license have saved more habitat for animals than you ever thought about helping. All you did was weaken a country today, you Anti-Hunting people. That's all you did. You put heritage of hunting and a Nation in danger. Sweet dreams, you are the true killers. Keeping the heritage alive. Horntagger

BIO
January 2004

Now let me introduce myself.

My grandpa, Harl Green introduced me to the outdoors by taking me rabbit hunting and cat fishing.

I started deer hunting when I was 17 years old in Texas County, Missouri. But what really hooked me into Deer Hunting was not the first deer I harvested, but the second. The very first time I went Bow hunting was in New Madrid, Mo. I harvested a nice size spike buck after an 8-point buck had actually stepped over my leg. This all happened after only being in the woods for 15 minutes. Boy was I hooked

Now I am 38 years old, married to a very tolerant wife and with an 9-year-old son (big dove and turkey hunter). I am originally from Sikeston, Mo. I now live in Jackson, Mo

I did the majority of my hunting South of Doniphan, Mo. on my Grandma’s farm at a place we called TURKEY BUZZARD INN. My hobby has become my passion for whitetail deer. I believe the whitetail deer is one of the most majestic, graceful and cunning animals in the world. I have in the last 20 years have grown a nice library of books, videos dealing with management, habits, and environmental effects on deer.

In 1994 and 1995 I started keeping records of my hunts. Then in 1996, I volunteered for the Missouri Department of Conservation Bow Hunter Observation Record. They have kept records for deer management reason and I have kept copies for my self to help record what day I have seen whitetail deer. In 1998 I purchased a Camtrakker (photo surveillance camera), less than 6 years I have taken over 800 photo’s of whitetail deer. By doing this I have authored and published Deer Daytime Activity Index for last four years. Which has been published by various magazines.

I love to hunt whitetail deer with a compound bow, gun and muzzle loader, I also love to hunt eastern wild turkeys, doves, quail, rabbits, swamp rabbits, squirrels, and coyotes.

But like 87% of the hunters in today’s society, I only get to hunt on the weekends due to my full time job. We weekend hunters are the majority and the most un-represented, and that very few ever think about or write for. My articles that I have written are for the weekend hunter to become a better hunter.

My articles all end with this quote “Hope to see you in the woods or on the water. Horntagger” Horntagger is nickname I received from my uncle and, the name I use on Internet hunting message boards, and my radio show.

Also I have been avid photographer and for years in which I love to take photos during my scouting trips, during the off-season if there is such a thing.

Have in 2003 started video taping all my hunts for more outdoor photo's and research.

My writing credits include articles in a variety of national, regional, and local magazines and web sites ranging from: Missouri Deer Hunter, River Country Outdoors, River Hills Traveler, Realtree Outdoors Web Site, Buckmaster’s Rack Magazine, Rack Magazine Website, Banta’s Online Hunting Magazine, Whitetail Journals Hunt Club Digest, Buckmasters Web Site, Ted Nugent’s Adventure Outdoors Magazine, Whitetails Unlimited Magazine, Deer and Deer Hunting Magazine, In-Fisherman Magazine, NWTF The Caller, Show Me Gobbler Magazine, Archery Big Bucks of Missouri Website, Bushnell Secrets of the Hunt Website, Permission to Hunt Magazine, Outdoor Guide Magazine and The Sportsman Magazine.
