Fortunately,
I have gotten to experience a vast range of things that the fishing and
hunting has to offer, but there is more out there to be experienced. I
haven’t even scratched the tip of the iceberg, yet!!
My experience
with outdoor equipment of all sorts is fairly vast, all through high school
and college I have worked in outdoor oriented places:
Worked for
Phegley Shooters Supply (sold guns / worked on bows)
Shot bows competitively
on 3D circuit for several years, ASA and IBO events (Indiana, Georgia,
Kentucky, Florida, Arizona, Illinois and Missouri)
Work for JBR
Outfitters (sold variety of outdoor goods, but mainly worked on and sold
bows and sold Orvis Flyrods).
I have helped
out Dan Foutz, start the hunting end of Foutz’s Hunting and Fishing Store
in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Own 320 acres
in Southern Illinois – have been working on a management program there
for the last five years. This management program includes, no only the
management of the wildlife, but also the land and the resources that are
so vital to the wildlife. Plot has 25-acre lake, which we are trying to
manage to produce trophy Bass and Bluegill. The last five years of management
of this ground, has widened my depth of knowledge tremendously in the areas
of food plots, tree planting, tree harvesting, and many other related subjects.

Matt
Gerhold
Writer, Originally from Brashear, MO. in a farming family in Adair County, Matt makes it home every spring and fall to hunt turkey and deer, primarily with bow. He's been hunting turkey and deer in Adair County since he was 13, 19 years ago. We have recently acquired 160 acres of land in Adair County just for our own hunting purposes that we are working toward game management with food plots, selective harvesting, and so on. He now lives in Altamont,
IL and runs a country grain elevator for ADM in daily contact with avid
hunters and large land owners in Southern, IL and a few in central IL.
He also works at the local archery shop, and sometimes travels with the
owners to dealer only conventions and so on. He also shoots several
3-D events during the summer, doing very well at local shoots, but has
never pursued larger shooting events; "just too serious for me." Matt says."Hunting
is my life, not merely a hobby."

Smith Dewlen
I have been a hunter for 44 years. While not an expert, I have gained quite a bit of knowledge on hunting and firearms. I will seek to answer questions that have been asked on the web site and asked personally. I will give information on products and services offered to us as consumers. My plans are to share some of my hunting experiences, some good, some not so good. Most will have a bit of humor. I like to laugh. I hunt with firearms only, so archery questions, are out of the question. I do hope that we can grow together in the hunting and shooting fraternity. I am the member of several organizations and urge each of you to join and support the ones that work to keep firearms in the hands of the people and keep the tradition of hunting viable. Life Member: NATIONAL RIFLE ASSN.
Annual Member: GUNOWNERS OF AMERICA
I am also the Past President of the FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES 2693. I will let you know what these organizations are doing for you and how you may (I hope you will) join each of them and others. I will provide information on a fine organization the takes critically ill children on wish hunts. I hope that you will let me know of other groups, which I may not be familiar. I also look forward to building lasting friendships. I will use
the psuedo name of Retired Hunter to the Forum responses that I make.
